Playlist #156
Another 52 weeks down! This marks the third full year of these playlists I’ve been compiling on a weekly basis. Looking forward to many more weeks to come.
Playlist this week starts with Central Cee. The west London MC went from 3 for 3 to 6 for 6. Its not a coincidence. He celebrates it on this track.
Although I will fully cop to not understanding the lyrics, I really like the music that Chucky73 is making. “Dili” was one of my favorite songs of 2020, and “Nube” captures a lot of the same reactions from me. The sonic appeal of the songs is undeniable.
I’ve been fucking with Gibbs for about a decade now, and this little post-Alfredo major label run hes on right now has been excellent. Between “4 Thangs”, “Gang Signs”, and “Big Boss Rabbit”, Freddie has maintained his ferocity, style, skill, and charisma while packaging it all into a more traditional single rollout that’s building more and more buzz for him. Keep going Gibbs, its awesome so far.
Flee and Muggs were on this playlist last week, and they return here with one featuring CRIMEAPPLE. Crime’s got a new tape out too that I’ve been enjoying and will likely make an appearance on of one of these soon. These two trade versus over Muggs’ looping guitar riff.
Rounding out this week is a Vic Spencer track that I’ve been enjoying for a couple months.
