Playlist #138
New day for the playlist, as mentioned. Starts this week with one from UFO Fev’s new album, “Dxngxr” has a new video:
“Nothin’ But the Cavi Hit” came on someone else's playlist I was listening to this week, and man that song just brightens my day.
Listenting to a Statik tape you can kind of just get lost in the beats (they show a typicity) and its verse after verse from heavy hitters that string together. Picking out voices ("Termanology!" "Method Man!") becomes part of the fun. And they every once in a while, a track really jumps out. Perhaps one that features Thistin Howl the 3rd & Sean P? That’s the case here as the two East NY vets go head to head.
This Tyler song just had a vinyl release on Stones Throw. Its a flip from a Prophet song, and I hadn't heard it before this week, but nice jam. From Stones Throw:
Fast forward a bunch of years later and Tyler hears a James Pants mixtape featuring Prophet’s “Wanna Be Your Man” from an album we were about to release. Tyler got his hands on the instrumental version (produced by Prophet, Mndsgn, and Swarvy) and created “Peach Fuzz.” This record contains Tyler’s version on Side A, Prophet’s original on Side B.
Wraps up with a Hailu Mergia song. Enjoy the music.
