Playlist #185

This week’s playlist starts off with an old song from Mos Def off of a compilation album that came out in ‘04 and also features El-P, Aesop Rock, & RJD2. A nice find.

Planet Asia is back again (again!) this week. He might be the leader for my most listened artist this year; we’ll find out in like a month. The Central California MC comes with it on “Bar Fight” off The Rule of Thirds collab with Evidence. “I freeze holes in they track/this is EPMD,with Steezo in the back/This is pure dope, might just freeze your nose in the trap/That junk your sellin’, they did the Steve Martin on your pack” FOH!

The EST Gee album is fantastic; aggressive and relentless songs all the way through. On this one Gee is joined by 42 Dugg and Lil Baby, who both turn in good verses for the track. What stands out the most is that this song kind of represents how much influence 400 Degreez and Mannie Fresh have on the contemporary rap soundscape.

Finally, we got a couple funk jams from The Grodeck Whipperjenny (who you might not have heard of) and James Brown (who you might have!).

That wraps it up for this time, enjoy.
