Playlists #176, #177, & #178

Oh man we hit another break from the blogs but the playlists are here for you anyways.

#176 kicks off with one from the new Flee Lord, produced entirely by Roc Marciano. Flee’s grind has been well documented on this blog, and he has another winner here following up on the DJ Muggs produced Rammellzee. Really like the beat switch on this one.

Wiki has started a single rollout, including this one, “Roof”, paying homage to the safe confines of his NYC rooftop.

Proly don’t need me to tell you this, but Jada has been on quite a run. 2 for 2 on Verzuz, The Lox album, and a handful of strong loosies like “Street Champion” (which has a cool screwed ending).

“You a bozo and you’re bitch is a bozette” Nems snarls snarkily at the jump of his first verse. Coney Island’s #1 shit talker is back, baby!

#177 starts off with this Ev and Conway song from Unlearning Vol. 1. Been meaning to include this song for a while, just the two of them trading rhymes over a Daringer beat.

Next up is “Borough of Queens (Q.U.)”, featuring a nice Q-Tip verse. Good Q-Tip verse is all you really need to get included here, tbh.

It was the anniversary of Jay-Z’s Blueprint last week, and so he gets an inclusion here. Blueprint is an excellent album, likely one of my 5 fav Jay-Z releases, and who doesn’t like “Heart of the City”? (And its one of the 1st Kanye beats!)

The posthumous Gift of Gab album is here, and its very good. I really like this song, as it addresses some of the health issues he was experiencing prior to his death and coming to terms with morality.

Another old school guy who has a new one is AZ. The Queens MC does it “Different” on this one. Whole project is dope, give it a listen and I’m sure he’ll make another appearance soon.

Larry June is back and fly as ever, and Richard Marx wraps up the week with “Purple Haze”

Finally, we start have our most recent week, #178. Needed a nudge to come back to the Tony Seltzer album, but glad I did. This one with Eartheater is a vibey pop hit.

Yelohill is back to remind you that “LA Is Not Safe”. I said this last time he was on a playlist, its the urgency in his voice that stands out the most.

Lakeyah taps in with Tee Grizzly on this one for a Derby du Nord. Back and forth they go over a “Michigan Type Beat”.

Finally, it’s another one from Nems, who stays mocking the Guthers and bozos who try to fuck with him. “Bing Bong” indeed!
