Playlists #162 & #163
Another double shot of playlists for your upcoming week.
First up on playlist #162 we have Death at the Derby, who remains my number one thing to listen to while playing Football Manager (EAG baby!). Cousin Feo & Lord Juco have created something unique and creative, and executed it with amazing skill. Superclásico was a couple weeks ago so its “Bombs in the Bombonera” on this playlist.
Method Man keeps doing his thing, not swearing on a track in a couple of years now it seems. Shouts to him for taking his pen game to another level.
Rounding out #162 is a Damian Marley remix of a Common song that I wasn't familiar with and this funky tune from Phil Ranelin & Wendell Harrison.
For #163 we start with one of the the Mach-Hommy. Squashing whatever beef had pushed them apart years ago, Mach and Westside Gunn combine their powers as the two of the most discussed figures in underground rap over the past couple years. The pairing of Mach's dense rhymes matches excellently with the luxurious soundscapes that are Gunn's signature on Griselda releases.
Bay Area's own P-Lo has a new track out as well, he's "Going Off" per ususal, with visuals shot in Tulum, Mexico.
Bub Styles is back this week with "Moncler Haricot Vert", detailing the struggles of having the deli where you sell drugs change ownership frequently & your custy's shady friends.
Finally we have a classic Ghostface joint. His third verse on this song is amazing. Bars like "Hold the mic like Gale Sayers/Hopping over chairs" & "Snatch the money bag off the milk truck and kept boatin'" are delivered at a fevered pace that only highlights his skill.
